NFL's 2012-2013 Season Prediction

The Philadelphia Eagles are one of the most historic football franchise in the NFL. The have had much success since their establishment in 1933. Although there have been many "successful" years in Philadelphia one thing has eluded them, a Super Bowl Championship. Although prior to the Super Bowl era, 47 years ago, the Eagles have won 3 Championships, as of late they have repeatedly fallen short. In the 2012-2013 season however, the Eagles luck was about to change, or so they thought.

This off season Philadelphia fans were ecstatic to here numerous sports analysts highly praising their team coming into this current NFL season. Everyone thought that this was the year the Eagles would claim a Super Bowl title.

According to Bleacher Report:

"The Eagles will represent the NFC in the Super Bowl.
The Eagles have the tools on offense and defense. The 49ers and Saints are going to take a step back. The Lions and Cowboys aren't as good as everyone thinks they will be. The Packers, Giants and Bears present the biggest challenges to the Eagles, but based on talent and experience as a group, it seems like 2012-2013 will be the year for Philadelphia." August 27, 2012

Another example at Bleeding Green Nation:
"ESPN ran their AccuScore simulator for every game in the NFL season and predicted an 11-5 record for the Eagles." September 4, 2012

The third and final example can be found at Philly Mag:
"Eagles Are Gruden’s Super Bowl Pick
Jon Gruden believes in the Eagles.
The ESPN analyst appeared on a SportsCenter segment Sunday morning and offered predictions for every NFC East team. He was asked if he thought the Eagles would win more or less than 11 games this season.
'This is the Eagles’ year,' Gruden said. 'They’re going to win more than 11, and they’re going deep into the playoffs. They’re my pick to go to the Super Bowl in the NFC. There’s no way they turn the ball over 38 times again. Too good a coach, too good a quarterback. Way too much skill on this team.'” September 2, 2012

Were the Predictions Accurate?

No! Up until this point of the season the Philadelphia Eagles have played less than average. They are currently ranked 27 out of 32 teams in the NFL. According to the NFL's website, the Eagles are scoring an abysmal 16.2 points per game; this ranks them 31 out of 32 teams. On the defensive side of the ball, the Eagles are allowing opponents to score 25.2 points per game. With these two statistics it is obvious why Philadelphia is off to a horrendous 3-8 start, losing their last 7 games straight. With a highly anticipated season turning out to be a bust, along with a infamously passionate fan base, the Eagles have turned into Negadeplia's team.
